The purpose of the motion analysis is to obtain the most probable
values of the motion of a ship/barge (e.g., roll, pitch, and heave) for a
given route.
• Calculations are made by OCTOPUS and based either on the BMT
ARGOSS wave data base or the WGS.
• The optimum route is determined by SPOS Seakeeping.
Mooring analyses are performed with the software OPTIMOOR.
• Calculations with OPTIMOOR provide values of tension in mooring
lines, according to characteristics of the lines (e.g., type, diameter)
and environmental forces (e.g., wind, wave, current).
GHS software is used to determine the hydrostatics data of a
vessel/barge: stability, draft, bending moment, trim, heel, etc. GHS is
a PC software system for the design and evaluation of all types of
ships and floating structures.
• GHS also addresses flotation, trim, stability and strength by
calculating the forces involved using mathematical/geometrical models
of the vessels. GHS is well-proven, reliable, respected by regulatory
agencies, is in constant use by major design firms and shipyards and
is approved by DNV, RMRS and LLOYDS register..
